This is an extension to our previous article regarding the DCMA 14 Point Check. The following method was used for Primavera P6 version 6.1, there was no other schedule analytical tool available so we developed a work around approach.
First open Primavera P6 and the project you wish to analyse.
We now need to add the Total Activities column.
Make a note of the Total Activities in the schedule.
Now we need to create a new report using the Report Wizard.
Select Activities as it is activity data we require in the report.
Add Primary Constraint as we are looking to find out how many Hard Constraints are against the Project.
Select Filter and create a filter to show only the Hard Constraints.
Type in the report name.
Click Run Report.
As we want the report in Excel select ASCII and ensure that the Text Qualifier is set to “.
The report will open in Microsoft Excel, highlight the Activity ID’s and make a note of the count.
In this example there are no Hard Constraints the calculation to work out the threshold is as follows:
Hard Constraints Check = (0/1749) *100 = 0%. The DCMA has set a threshold of no more than 5% for Hard Constraints, in this example this project meets this criteria.
There are a further 13 checks prescribed by the DCMA which along with the Hard Constraints Check that will be detailed out in further supporting documentation and video tutorials at http://www.myxacom.com where knowledge is no weight to carry.
We are launching a Crowdfunding project at the end of September 2016 to raise funds for development of the myxacom.com website. The funds will be used to:
- Enhance the site for members
- Upgrade of recording and studio equipment
- Development of interactive e-learning
- Initial funding for a recording studio
Over the next few weeks we will be developing the project to tell our story and creating reward packages for backers.
We will be posting regular updates here to keep you all informed as to our progress with the project.
If you are interested in helping us fund the future development of the site please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
